HOPPER
About Him:
Hopper provides the voice of this
menacing and manipulative
grasshopper villain, whose tough
exterior conceals an even tougher
interior and a superior intellect.
About The Actor Who does his voice: (Kevin Spacey)
"I've loved animation ever since I
was a kid," says the actor. "And
since the medium has sort of
exploded over the past 10 years, I've wanted to do an animated
voice. It was great
to finally be asked to do one."
"'A Bug's Life' is such a wonderful story," continues
Spacey. "John Lasseter is a
marvelous director. He's like a kid, he gets so excited. He's a
very great man to
work with and we had a heck of a time. It's a little tough on
your voice, but when
you see it all put together, it looks so effortless and you
forget all the work that
went into it.
Spacey recently starred opposite Samuel L. Jackson in "The
Negotiator" and won
acclaim last year for his role as Detective Jack Vincennes in the
award-winning
"L.A. Confidential." In 1995, he received an Academy

Good and Evil," "A Time
to Kill," "Looking for Richard,"

Spacey launched his extensive New York stage career with a role
as a messenger
in Joseph Papp's Central Park production of "Henry IV, Part
I," and starred
opposite Liv Ullman a year later in Ibsen's "Ghosts."
His breakthrough
performance came as Jamie Tyrone opposite Jack Lemmon in Jonathan
Miller's
1986 Broadway/London production of Eugene O'Neill's "Long
Day's Journey into
Night." He won the 1991 Tony Award for his performance as
Uncle Louie in Neil
Simon's "Lost in Yonkers," with Irene Worth, and
appeared in "Playland" at the
Manhattan Theatre Club, directed by its author, Athol Fugard.
Television audiences are familiar with his work as Mel Profitt on
the CBS series
"Wiseguy" and his performance as Clarence Darrow in the
American Playhouse
production of "Darrow," directed by John Coles.
Spacey made his directorial debut in 1997 with the film
"Albino Alligator," starring
Matt Dillon, Faye Dunaway, and Gary Sinise. His next film to be
released will be
"Hurlyburly," opposite Sean Penn, Chazz Palminteri,
Robin Wright Penn, Meg
Ryan, and Anna Paquin.
Spacey is currently shooting the Irish gangster film
"Ordinary Decent Criminal" for
director Thaddeus O'Sullivan, a coproduction between Icon Films
and his own
production company, Trigger Street.
In spring 1999 he returns to the New York stage in director
Howard Davies'
acclaimed production of Eugene O'Neill's "The Iceman
Cometh," which originated
at the Almeida Theatre in London before moving to the Old Vic.
