MOLT
About Him:
Molt adds bounce and humor to
the voice of Hopper's dimwitted
grasshopper sibling, who's always
getting under his brother's skin.
About The Actor That Does His Voice:
"As an actor, it is very
gratifying to
be at the recording sessions and
have the screenwriters and
directors sitting in the booth
laughing or saying, 'That's perfect,'"
observes Kind. "Seeing their reactions right away is very
satisfying. John Lasseter
is really a very nice guy who knows exactly what he wants and the
real thrill is
when you rise above what he wants, and he goes 'oh, that's
great.' He gets caught
up in the character, and it's really very endearing to watch.
"I'm clueless as to how they do the animation," he
adds. "I simply sit there in awe
because I'm a computer illiterate. I can't even e-mail. When I
see the finished
animation, I'm simply astounded, and I can't believe what these
people have
done."
Kind currently stars as the irrepressible press secretary to the
mayor of New York
on ABC's "Spin City." He is also known to television
viewers as Mark, Fran's
ex-husband on "Mad About You."
Born in Trenton, New Jersey, and raised in Bucks County,
Pennsylvania, he was
the older of two children in a middle-class household. As a child
he portrayed
numerous roles in school plays, including the "meaty"
part of Fagin in a fifth-grade
production of "Oliver!" At Northwestern University he
was a prelaw major and was
expected to go to law school upon graduation. His father's best
friend urged him to
give acting a try.
Kind made the move to New York, where he struggled to make a
living doing
commercials and showcases and waiting tables. After four years he
moved to
Chicago, where he worked with the Practical Theater Company,
founded by Julia
Louis-Dreyfus, Brad Hill, and Gary Kroeger. He was hired by
Second City, where
he honed his comedic talents for four years in productions such
as "How Green
Were My Values," "John, Paul, Sartre, and Ringo,"
and "True Midwest." He then
moved to Los Angeles, where he performed for Second City's L.A.
troupe.
Kind has performed on countless television shows, including
stints as a series
regular on "Carol and Company" with Carol Burnett; two
ABC series, "Blue Skies"
and "A Whole New Ball Game"; and "Unsub." He
has guest-starred on "Nowhere
Man," "The Commish," "The Nanny," and
"Anything But Love," to name a few.
Kind's feature-film credits include a small role in the Sundance
Film "Johns,"
directed by Scott Silver, as well as roles in
"Stargate" and "Mr. Saturday Night."
He also played the only voice ever attributed to Tom the cat, in
the animated film
"Tom and Jerry: The Movie."
